With graphics that certainly cannot be considered high-quality, and a plot that does not even follow the movie correctly--let alone the book, this game really was no more and no less than I expected it to be. When it comes to games based off movies, it is rare that you'll find one that is truly good. And seeing how the movie wasn't exactly a smash anyhow, you can only expect the game to be half (at the least) as good as the film. I finished the game within 3 days, it wasn't a challenge for me. And it was absurdly boring, but seeing how I had nothing better to do, I went on and finished it anyway. If you enjoy cheesy, slow-going, and horribly animated video games or are much to young to tell the difference between a good game and a bad game, this is for you. If you like games that are...well, not, then try something else. -- Expectable

I bought this one for my daughter (13) for xmas to go with the new 360 system. She and I had a lot of fun playing through the game. Took us collectively about 18 hours to complete. From reading the other reviews, I guess we were very fortunate that we didn't run into any bugs or glitches. The game was just challenging enough to keep our interest. I especially enjoyed the cut scenes that were (literally) cut from the original movie. I have not read the books but I am guessing that based on the cut scenes, the story goes a bit differently than was portrayed.

We've moved onto Lara Croft (much more challenging) but for us, starting off with The Golden Compass was a good choice to get our feet wet.

For the price, I'd definitely give this game a shot. -- Found no bugs, no glitches

I played the game but it got a little mundane in parts and couldn't wait for the final level to come. It was fun in some parts and I was happy to see the parts that weren't in the movie. But after a few rounds it did get a little boring. -- Slightly fun but boring

This is definitely one of the better video games that comes out based on a movie. The graphics are great, gameplay is swift and never gets boring, and the storyline follows the book and not the movie (yay!)

You are a girl named Lyra who lives in another world and goes on adventures in the north to save children kidnapped by the "Gobblers"

You also get to play as Iorek Byrnison, an enourmous armored bear, which adds some action to the game.

Don't litsen to the people that say it crashes systems; as long as your system meets the requirements, you should be fine and cutscenes should play at normal speed.

Maybe they forgot to look at the system requirements before installing the game, or maybe some Amazon users have a hard time reading.

I highly reccomend this game for any child over 12, since it does have a lot of violence, and moments can be scary (it's in the upper range of E10+, almost T).
