User Reviews about FC Mobile 2 II NES Portable System White
I was leery about purchasing this product as a gift after reading some of the reviews. But as soon as I got it i test all four games I'd purchased and I wanted to keep it for myself! Some complained about sound, but i thought it was fine! Granted its no Bose audio system but what are you really expecting from a $40 hand held game? Love this system, totally want to get one for myself. (My sister was highly impressed as well). -- Lots of fuN!
I ordered this after seeing it in an episode of Talking Classics at [...]where Keith was using one. As someone who has a large NES collection, but no system since it was all passed along to my younger brother, I thought this would be an excellent way to enjoy my older games in the way the Nintendo DS lite has. Also, I noticed that there are various "hardest games ever" list that include many of the classics I own, and wanted proof that "yes, I did beat Castlevania, Battletoads, Contra without the 30 man code, and Ninja Gaiden."
For what it is at the core, it is great. Games play well. The reset button on the face was concerning, but I have yet to accidentally hit it while playing. Screen is nice, I haven't taken the plastic protector off yet as I have it in a messenger bag and it takes some abuse and I'd hate to scratch it. The sound doesn't seem up to par with a TV speaker, but how could you expect it to? It does well enough, and adds the retro charm of this bit-tunes. I have not had any issues as another review stated about games being interrupted by jostling around. Controls seem good, and it is nice to have turbo buttons on some classic games. The system itself is light for it's size, which can be good or bad. Less "dense" feeling that my DS lite even though this is the size of 2 DS lites sandwiched together. The issues I do have with this item is with TV capability. I bought it so that I could also play my NES games on TV since I don't have a NES system anymore. However, the seemingly good option of wireless controllers is the downfall. The controllers seem cheap. On certain games, either the wireless connection is an issue or the controller hardware is poor, because it is hard to duck on platform games with any consistency. For example, in Ninja Gaiden you can be running along and need to crouch down to attack a smaller enemy, and you will just continue running the direction you were formerly pressing. It is hard to explain, but I was pressing right, now I am pressing down, but the character is still running right. In Mega Man 3 this also had issues with sliding control as well. I feel that if you are playing a slower game or RPG, this probably is not an issue, but it frustration otherwise. I didn't bother using the wireless light gun. If anyone wants it, email me and I'll give it to you. the RCA cables connect well and the picture on the TV screen is great.
Soooooo... this is an awesome product for on the go playing of old NES games, but does not replace a NES home system. I'd rather have plug in controllers with extra long cables as opposed to these wireless ones... actually that would have been the best solution for me... if they had 2 small USB slots on the FC Mobile 2 with a "USB>4feet of cable>NES controller port" insert so that you could use the old NES controllers with it, but still have more length and not take up space on the unit [those old NES ports are huge compared to today's standards]. I was lucky enough to just be able and take my brother's NES2 top loader system this past holiday season... so that fixes my at home NES needs.
PROS:
Portable system that works well. Came with adapter [haven't even had to use batteries yet].
CONS:
wireless controller when playing on TV don't work well for faster paced games. DO NOT GET THIS AS YOUR HOME NES SYSTEM!
Thanks, email with any questions. -- Good, but....
I dont know why people are rating this system so low,
its amazing and you get 2 controllers, a gun and its all wireless, and the AC adaptor,
and the screen is amazing its clear and the games all work amazing the sound isnt the greatest but other then that the game system works like its supposed to do and I rate it 5 out of 5 stars. -- GREAT SYSTEM
